What is Brizillian Jiu-Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the fighting art developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family of Brazil. Even though BJJ contains standup techniques for winning a fight, it is famous for its devastating ground fighting techniques. BJJ was specifically developed to allow a smaller person to defeat a larger person by sophisticated application of leverage and technique. Gaining a superior position on your opponent and applying a myriad of chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations is the foundation of this martial art. BJJ is normally practiced in a gi, which serves as a tool to give the student a greater element of control.
Meet Our Professor
My name is Peter Khan and I have been retired from the Navy for 20 years. I started training in the Art of Jiujitsu in 2011 and I received my black belt from the Mendes brothers in 2017. My passion has been to spread my knowledge of the art of jiujitsu to as many students as possible and to help them achieve their highest potential in the gentle art of BJJ. My proudest jiujitsu moment was when my daughter won her first adult black belt Worlds Championship!
